Fishing for Beginners - 104-1-1011

Take advantage of Michigan’s Free Fishing Weekend and learn the basics of fishing on the shores of beautiful Kent Lake. We’ll meet outdoors at the West Boat Launch where we’ll learn how to properly bait a hook, cast a line, and reel in that big catch. We’ll also learn how to properly hold a fish as we remove the hook from its mouth as we investigate some of the fish species that live in this stretch of the Huron River. We’ll even show you how to hold a fish for that perfect photo opportunity!
Since this program takes place during the Michigan DNR’s Free Fishing Weekend, a fishing license is not required. All equipment and bait is provided for the duration of the program. This program will be held outdoor at the West Boat Launch, where restrooms are available for post-fishing handwashing.
