Enjoy a light show put on by some of nature's favorite fireworks at the Kensington Metropark Nature Center's "Fireflies of July" program! Bring your flashlight and your sense of wonder as we discover the romance, the mystery, and the danger that comes with being a bioluminescent insect. We'll nibble cookies and play an insect-inspired version of flashlight tag as we learn about these mid-summer light-makers. Then we'll grab our nets and see if we can capture a few for close observation before we release them back into the night!

What to expect:
This program is entirely outdoors. We’ll be taking a leisurely walk with frequent stops along a dirt and gravel path. We’ll cover about ¾ of a mile and end up back at the Kensington Metropark Nature Center. The path is mostly flat and level. No prior experience is necessary. A group interactive activity or game with instructions will be involved.
