Make like an early explorer on an expedition down the nationally designated Huron River Water Trail by kayak to find the elusive American beaver. We'll head out at the perfect time to spot beavers, dusk, and paddle by two beaver lodges in the hopes of potentially seeing one. As we paddle, we'll search for signs the beavers left behind along the banks of the river. We will meet at Hudson Mills Activity Center and be shuttled by van to and from the river.

What to Expect: The total program will be approximately two hours, we will be paddling approximately 45 minutes of that time. Expect to paddle less than 2 miles. Time includes personal or small group instruction. Participants must be able to raise and lower themselves to a seated position at ground level without assistance and must be able to carry a moderate amount (roughly 20 pounds) of weight and walk over uneven ground. Paddling will be mainly light to moderate but a few points in the trip may require vigorous strokes for a short duration. Participants should be able to comfortably use both arms through a full range of motion. Paddlers of all skills are invited to participate; no prior experience is necessary. A brief 10 minute tutorial on paddle strokes and safety will be provided during a portion of the program time.

Ages: Ages 12 and up. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by a registered adult.
