Teacher Workshop: School Gardening - Kensington Farm Center - 104-1-1845

Explore agriculture and gardening at the Kensington Farm Center in the morning, then use the afternoon to discover methods to build student enthusiasm and interest in the science of agriculture and gardening through hands-on, place-based lessons. This workshop links to lessons and activities available in Metroparks Supplemental Science Learning Boxes that support Michigan Science Standards and are available to borrow from the Metroparks for free. After attending this workshop, you will have the skills and confidence needed to borrow the Supplemental Science Learning Box and start your own school garden. Dress to be outdoors and bring a water bottle. Lunch and snacks will be provided. This workshop is open to Wayne County Science Teachers in Grades K-8 and is made possible FREE of charge through a generous grant from the Russell Foundation. Participants will receive up to four State Continuing Education Clock Hours (SCECHs).

Time: 9:30 a.m. – 3:45 p.m.
