YA Beginner Kayaking - 7/12 - 10:00am

Embrace your outdoorsy self and become a kayaker alongside other young adults. We’ll cover basic paddling strokes, safety tips, making trip planning fun, and some simple ways to be kind to nature before unwinding with a 40-minute float on Kent Lake. If you have never kayaked before, are new to kayaking, or just want to try something different, this class is for you.

What to expect: This program is entirely outdoors, starting on the shore before launching kayaks into the water. No prior experience necessary. Time includes personal or small group instruction. For maximum enjoyment, some of our 1-hour program time will require all participants to patiently remain quiet and listen closely. Suggestions for attire included in your confirmation email after registering.

Ages: Adults ages 18 – 26
Time: 10 a.m. – 11 a.m.
Cost: $35 per adult
Location: Kensington Metropark, Boat Rental launch area

Pre-registration is required by 4 p.m. three days before the program.

Pre-register online by checking the box of the program you would like to attend. A "Selected Items" window will appear at the bottom of your screen. Click on the "Add to Cart" button to add program to your cart. You can also call for questions or help with registration at 810-227-8917.
Thank you for registering for a paddle program with us! A few reminders to make our float as comfortable as possible:
* If you plan to bring your phone or keys on the water, bring a zip-loc baggie so they don’t get wet.
* Temperatures may be warm, so please bring a water bottle, and sunscreen or a hat.
* Do not wear cotton clothing or jeans. We are expecting a calm paddle, however there is always a chance of getting wet when on a boat. Cotton holds water, keeping you cold, wet, and uncomfortable if you happen to splash yourself or fall in. Additionally, please wear shoes that can get wet.
* If you registered a friend, don't forget to forward this information to them!
