Your Metroparks is excited to work with the Detroit Public Library to bring programs to Detroit neighborhoods. A variety of topics will be covered across multiple library locations with programs for adults, families, and kids! Through a partnership with the Detroit Public Libraries, this FREE program will be conducted at the Detroit Public Library Bowen Branch.

People of the Three Fires
Saturday, March 9, 2024 – 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Participants will explore the lives of pre-statehood Ojibwa, Odawa, and Potawatomi peoples during this hands-on program. Our presenter uses artifacts, replicas, graphics, and interactive activities to help participants discover American Indian lifeways, tools, technologies, and modern language contributions. Participants will then try their hands at fire making with hand drills and at drilling with replicas of precontact pump drills
