Overview:Explorer’s Club is a monthly program, occurring the first Saturday of each month, for your 6 to 14-year-olds to learn about Michigan’s native species. We’ll cover everything from plants, to animals, to insects and everything in-between! Each month will have a specific theme or topic, but we will learn and explore inside and outside each month.What to Expect:This program starts indoors, ends outdoors. The time, approximately 15 minutes will be spent indoors; and 45 minutes will be spent on a leisurely walk. We will conclude at the Oakwoods Nature Center. The planned path surface is dirt and gravel, and mostly flat and level. January 6 – Explorer’s Club: Animals in Winter February 3 – Explorer’s Club: Groundhogs March 2 – Explorer’s Club: Maple Sugaring April 6 – Explorer’s Club: Talking about Toads May 4 – Explorer’s Club: Seed Dispersal June 1 – Explorer’s Club: What’s That Bug July 6 – Explorer’s Club: Crayfish August 3 – Explorer’s Club: Caterpillars September 7 – Explorer’s Club: Migration October 5 – Explorer’s Club: Predator Prey November 2 – Explorer’s Club: Owls December 7 – Explorer’s Club: Food Chains Ages: Children 6-14.
