Overview:Who needs native plants? We all do! During this interactive program for Girl Scouts we'll explore the life cycle of a native plant by dressing a scout up as a flower and modeling the plant’s structures and functions. We'll dramatize a pollinator's role in how flowers turn into seeds and learn how seeds are dispersed as we prepare the scouts for spreading seed bombs of native flowers in the park! As a group, the scouts will also create a model to explore the parts of a tree and the role each part plays in the tree’s survival, all while discovering the services native plants provide to pollinators and other insects, and the vital roles they play in maintaining healthy ecosystems and healthy human communities. This grant funded program is made possible by the Consumers Energy Foundation.Ages: Juniors, Brownies, Daisies, CadettesTime: 10 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.Cost: $10 per scout, adults are Free!Location: Indian Springs, Environmental Discovery Center Pre-registration is required by October 31 (or sooner if event reaches capacity) at Girl Scouts of Southeast Michigan https://mygs.girlscouts.org/event-detail?id=465-11042023-JH002
