Overview:
LENS CAP – Lake Erie Nature Society for Cameras and Photography – is a program geared to help you improve and explore your camera and photography skill. We will meet six times a year on Sundays and each program will focus on a different topic or skill. Join us for all sessions or individual ones.
What to Expect:
This program is entirely indoors. You will be seated for the entire duration. Group discussion will be encouraged.

January 26 – LENS CAP: A Year of Photos
This is an opportunity for participants to submit their own photos for an interpretive program. Participants are asked to send in their photos prior to the session; and staff will compile the top photos into a PowerPoint and create a program based on the submissions. Please send all photos to [email protected] by Monday, January 20, 2025.

March 30 –LENS CAP: Photographing the Night Sky
The Rio Grande Valley Birding Festival in Texas is one of the top birding events in the country. We’ll explore photography basics through wildlife, landscape and urban images captured in San Antonio and the Rio Grande Valley.

May 18 - LENS CAP: Photo Contest
Submit your best photos. Top three photos will be displayed in Museum Observation Room. Please send all photos to [email protected] by Wednesday, May 14, 2025. Note: Participants must attend this program to have their images considered.

July 27 – LENS CAP: Photos from History
Photography has revolutionized how we see the world around us. Join us for look at some of history’s most famous (and infamous) photos as we explore as art and learn the “story behind the story”.

September 28 – LENS CAP: Back to Basics
This will be a “back to basics approach” as we review basic camera settings and how they can impact an image.

November 23 - LENS CAP: Photo Contest
Submit your best photos. Top three photos will be displayed in Museum Observation Room. Please send all photos to [email protected] by Wednesday, November 19, 2025. Note: Participants must attend this program to have their images considered.

Ages: 8 and up.
Time: 2 p.m. – 4 p.m.
Cost: $3 per child, $5 per adult, children under 2 Free!
Location: Lake Erie Metropark, Marshlands Museum

Pre-registration is required by 4 p.m. the day before the program.
